Tips for Losing Weight!

by: Tanya Rosen

  1. Eat Breakfast!

Dieters often skip breakfast.  Trust me, this never works. By lunch, you will feel famished and each much larger portions than appropriate for an effective diet.  Eating a balanced meal within three hours of waking up is an effective way to stave off hunger and properly pace your caloric intake.  Additionally, a good breakfast kick starts your metabolism, allowing you to digest foods more efficiently.

  1. Record your eating habits.

Keeping a cheshbon of the food you eat is very important to a successful diet.  It allows you to track your progress and spot weak points. Even if it takes a little time, it is worthwhile to keep a record of your food intake.

  1. Show Up

If you are in a weight loss program, don’t miss a Weigh-In.  Even if it was a bad week, show up.

  1. Enjoy your food!

You will enjoy your food much more if you don’t just ‘grab and go’.  This is not a diet tip per se, but it is a pet peeve of mine. Get a plate, sit down, make your food look presentable, and then eat!  Don’t eat too much, but enjoy it!

  1. Drink lots of water

Although we all know this is important, it is often ignored advice.

  1. Persevere

I have helped countless people lose weight.  We all have bad days, and everyone, even the most committed dieter, cheats at one point or another.  The difference between successful dieters and those who fail is simple. The people who succeed bounce back after they slip and continue their diet as if nothing happened.  The ones who fail grow despondent when they cheat and end up dropping the diet entirely. I always tell my clients to keep on going. Sure, you feel horrible after you cheat, but snap out of it, and pretend that it never happened.  Imagine your diet is going great, and move on as if you were doing phenomenal. Whatever you do, don’t give up!
