✅Do:
- Be realistic.
Staying the same weight in seminary versus gaining is a great goal. Don’t expect to lose weight. - Come stocked.
Bring or ship as much as you can for healthy snacks (see attached travel list and shopping list). - Stock up even more:
Get shopping and get stocked with healthy essentials sold in Israel stores (see attached Israel shopping list). - Bring that skirt.
It may not be realistic or socially appropriate to bring along a scale, so bring along THAT skirt. You know, the one that tells you how you’re doing. It’s usually not elastic and has a zipper and/or buttons. Put it on once in a while. - Follow the one-plate rule.
Take one plate.
Fill it up with the best possible options. (Ideally, half should be veggies.)
Sit, enjoy, and don’t refill. - Drink lots of water.
This will help you quench thirst, which is mistaken for false hunger, and help you get and stay fuller.
🛑 DON’T
- Don’t waste your nutrition on liquid calories.
It’s easy and yummy to go for those coffee and ice cream drinks, but keep in mind that they are very high in calories, fat, and sugar. - Don’t compare:
Seminary life means living in close quarters and inevitably comparing ourselves to others. While I agree that it’s not fair that your roommate can eat whatever she wants and not gain weight, that’s her and not you. - Don’t be black and white.
Just because you had a bad meal, hour, or even week doesn’t mean your whole year is ruined. Learn to pick up and move on right there and then!
Make sure to schedule at our Israel location located in Rav Shefa Mall.
