Myth or Fact: Skipping Meals Is Okay

Skipping Meals Is Okay

This is a fact!

Occasionally it’s ok but doing so regularly is NOT smart.

Why?

1. Waiting too long between meals will cause you to get too hungry and may make you overeat at your next meal.

2. Your total daily caloric intake may end up being too low which can cause your body to go into starvation mode, holding on to the food instead of metabolizing it properly.

3. You may not get enough nutrients which in extreme cases can cause hair loss and nail breakage, just to list a few possibilities. People who skip breakfast are also more likely to develop type 2 diabetes.

4. If you have young impressionable girls, they’re watching you and your eating habits. I can’t begin to count how many girls have told me “why shouldn’t I —— (fill in the blank with an unhealthy eating habit), my mother does that”… enough said.

So what should you do if you’re just not hungry or too busy to eat? Grab a quick portable snack or mini-meal with protein. Some examples are yogurt, almonds, even a smoothie with just fruits and milk (no sugar).
